Bringing in your outdoor plants.

Time to designate your favorite sunny window for plants a plenty.  Don't be fooled by the sun and 80 degrees this weekend, the season that comes after fall starts with a 'W' and isn't kind to anything leafy and tropical.  For the best, most successful transfer of plants to the indoors consider planting your plants into new pots and adding some fresh soil.  Most potting soils available  have a light dose of nutrients, just enough to make your plant feel good.

Time to designate your favorite sunny window for plants a plenty.  Don’t be fooled by the sun and 80 degrees this weekend, the season that comes after fall starts with a ‘W’ and isn’t kind to anything leafy and tropical.  For the best, most successful transfer of plants to the indoors consider planting your plants into new pots and adding some fresh soil.  Most potting soils available  have a light dose of nutrients, just enough to make your plant feel good. We recommend adding a systemic houseplant insecticide control to the soil- there’s no smell, no residue on the plant and there’s total insect control for 6 weeks at a time.   Here in MN we are rockin about 12 hours of daylight these days and it’s getting to be less and less.  The most South facing window in your house is going to be the best option for your outdoor plants you want to overwinter.  In response to the reduced sunlight,  outdoor plants coming inside will drop leaves.   Most plants will hang onto just enough leaves to keep them alive and well until the sunlight becomes powerful again.  On the upswing of light, you will see new growth and that’s the point we want to encourage you to feed your plants a fertilizer-March or April.  We have lots of answers for you and your plants so please stop in to chat with any one of the Sunny Staff.  Happy gardening!
