Celosia, or cockscomb, is another great annual that works well in sunny containers, annual beds, or as a cut flower. The flowers are available in a wide range of colors, with a great range of foliage colors as well. These distinctive flowers come in three styles: spicata, plumosa, or cristata. Both the spicata and plumosa styles are upright, spiked flowers. The cristata style, though, is reminiscent of wavy coral. All Celosia benefits from regular deadheading as the flowers tend to hang on to the plant after they’re spent.
