Perennials

Salvia nemorosa 'Caradona'

Salvia ‘May Night’

Over a decade has passed since ‘May Night’ was chosen as perennial plant of the year, yet its popularity with our gardening community has not faltered. Any amount of deadheading, delicate snips to aggressive sheering, will encourage reblooming. Truly, a low maintenance winner.

Dicentra ‘King of Hearts’

This pink beauty has long been one of our favorite Bleeding Hearts. Its long bloom season, June-September, and delicate green lace foliage make it an easy pick for your garden. ‘King of Hearts’ is winter hardy and heat tolerant.

Phlox subulata

Creeping phlox is our pick for a show-stopping, spring blooming ground cover. Give your rock garden a blast of color or partner creeping phlox with your favorite spring bulbs. Just remember to plant this phlox in a sunny location with well-drained soil.

Astilbe ‘Rhineland’

When it comes to Astilbes, there are quite a few; so, the staff here decided to select a particularly outstanding one to highlight. Rhineland is perfect for the shaded border, producing feathery, light pink flowerheads. The foliage is deeply incised and graceful, in rich green or bronze. Left uncut, late season flowerheads provide winter landscape interest.

Peony ‘Kansas’

Peonies are beautiful. Red peonies are stunning! Kansas has a double red flower and will bloom in MN as early as the first week of June. Later in the season, when the blooms are gone, the shrub-like habit of peonies makes them a valuable player in the garden adding dimension and rich green color.
