We have a very shaded area in the back of our yard, and are looking for some shrubs that would help provide a screen between our yard and the neighbor’s. Any suggestions for something that would grow around 6′ high (ideally) and be happy in the undergrowth of several trees?

I few deciduous shrubs come to mind.
Hedge Cotoneaster
Wentworth Viburnum (would eventually get larger than 6â², but could be trimmed back)
Aronia, Chokeberry
