September Gardening

Quick garden report from last night: Yellow.

Backyard Boardwalk and Patio

Quick garden report from last night:

Yellow. Grey.  Brown.  Tried that.  Not so great any more.  Do I have any more Miracle Gro food? Can I eat that?  Is something eating that?-  September 1

So, plants around my yard are tired looking–Not all, but some.  I’m pretty excited for all the fall color, but not so excited for some of the Spring bloomers barely hanging on to life. Now that the Fall season is upon us I want to clean out the garage and my garden.  If you’re a plant in my garden, you’re bloomed out, falling over and yellow, YOU’RE GONE.  “I’m sorry, sweet plants, it’s been real.  I’ll see you next year.”

Me, my pruner, and a bag for compost.  Cutting plants in half will allow them to photosythesize a bit more. Cutting them to the ground is ok too in a lot of cases, especially when there aren’t any healthy leaves to be seen. In my garden I’m going to focus on trimming back some unruly six foot tall rudbeckia, salvia, peonies with powdery mildew and penstemon top heavy with seed pods.

With the newly constructed Feng Shui garden I’m going to plant bulbs for spring and just enjoy the clean.  Maybe I’ll even mulch and turn in compost where I like to grow my tomatoes.

Ahhh.  Relax and enjoy the beauty of Fall without the tag-a-longs from Spring.
