Ladies and genteman, your 2010 Perennial of the Year!  Baptisia, or false indigo, is a perennial of the pea family, which explains the shape of its abundant indigo blue pea-shaped flowers in summer.  This plant can grow to nearly five feet in height and almost as wide so make sure to give it a lot of room.  Native to both Wisconsin and Iowa, Baptisia is very hardy here in Minnesota and quickly becoming on of the most popular perennials.
