Question:
My ficus is losing all of its leaves, they turn brown in patches before they fall. The bark has little silver dots all over. From what I have read, it is likely that it has a fungus. What do you recommend be done to save her?

Ficus plants can be a bit finicky, especially during the low-light months of a Minnesota winter. If your plant is dropping leaves, don’t panic! Here are some suggestions to help it bounce back:
1.Light is Key
•Ficus thrive in bright direct light. During the winter, move your plant to a south- or west-facing window to maximize natural light (rotate regularly to get all sides equal light).
•Consider adding a supplemental grow light to mimic the brighter conditions of spring and summer.
2.Leaf Drop is Normal
•Leaf drop during winter is common and usually not a sign of disease. With proper care, your ficus will regrow its leaves come April and May as the days get longer.
3.Non-Toxic Pest and Fungus Control
•Neem oil is a safe and effective option for managing pests or fungal issues. Spray your ficus with neem oil every 10–14 days as a preventative measure or to address minor issues.
By adjusting the light and keeping up with basic maintenance, your ficus will have a much better chance of thriving, even during the darker months!
