Shiny cabbage like leaves with a unique, leathery like appearence that take on a reddish-brown look in the fall.  While mostly used as a foliage plant, berginia also features small pink flower borne atop upright steps.  Also know as ‘pig squeak’ from the sound that can be made when rubbing the leaves together.
